Main Event Highlights
🏆 CHAMPION | APLPT ALBURY | EVENT 7 | MAIN EVENT 🏆
Melburnian Neil Cruz emerged as the champion of the APLPT Main Event, marking a significant milestone in his poker career. The final table saw an electrifying atmosphere at the Commercial Club Albury, with a strong rail of supporters cheering as the decisive card hit the felt.
The “TPC” clan from Club Italia in Melbourne added to the celebratory mood, joining Neil in the winner's photo. In his victory speech, Neil expressed his gratitude to his supporters and praised the APL for their professionalism in organizing the event and the entire series.
An IT worker by profession, Neil achieved his best live cash and secured his first-ever trophy. Reflecting on his journey, he extended special thanks to Craig King for his role in nurturing the poker talent at Club Italia. Neil shared a memorable moment from the tournament, attributing his victory to a bit of luck with a 7-5 hand heads-up, which he humorously linked to RM Michelle Hind’s lucky number 7.
Final Placings: 1st: Neil Cruz - $12,300 + $100K Invitational Seat + $1,500 APL Million Seat
Jackstar Super High Roller Spotlight
🏆 CHAMPION | APLPT ALBURY | EVENT 16 | JACKSTAR SUPER HIGH ROLLER 🏆
Local favorite Mark Williams clinched the title in the Jackstar Super High Roller event, adding another accolade to his impressive poker resume. Just days earlier, Mark had finished second in The Centurion, but he didn’t let that runner-up finish deter him when he faced a chip deficit in heads-up play for the Jackstar.
Demonstrating resilience and skill, Mark secured his second APLPT trophy, nearly a year after his previous win in The Centurion, where he earned over $35,000. This latest victory marks his best live cash to date, with a prize of $42,000, which he plans to celebrate in style.
Final Placings: 1st: Mark Williams - $42,000* + $100K Invitational Seat
