The APLPT Queensland event has concluded, and it boasts the largest total series prize-pool in the history of APLPT outside Victoria, with a confirmed $1,217,950. The success of the event is attributed to the dedication of the players, staff, and crew who worked together to make it happen. The APLPT team is looking forward to the response from New South Wales after an impressive display from the Queenslanders.
Matthew McNamara, a player from Victoria, emerged as the champion of the APLPT Centurion, taking home nearly $60,000. McNamara noted that his solid Day 1 gave him a good start, and he continued to build his stack throughout the tournament. This win is his best poker result to date, and he plans to use some of the prize money to pay off his mortgage.
The APLPT Main Event Champion is Duncan McKinnon, a Queenslander who won the title in his home state. After a long three-way battle, McKinnon won a pivotal hand with his Ace-Ten against Charles Tsai's Ace-Queen, securing about 80% of the chips in play. McKinnon continued to play aggressively in the heads-up phase, securing the victory. McKinnon won $23,170, along with the 100K Invitational and a seat in the APL Million Main Event, while the runner-up, John Boardman, received $13,590 and a seat in the APL Million Main Event.
