APLPT Brisbane Series Wrap Up - October 2024

Our inaugural APLPT Brisbane series has laid a solid foundation, reflecting the dedication and enthusiasm of the Australian poker community. With a total prize pool of $726,740 and over 3,000 entries across six days, the series was a great success. The Main Event alone reached $105,900, and the Jackstar Super High Roller exceeded $150,000, showcasing the high-stakes thrill that defines a key part of the APL Poker Tour.

Main Event Champion

In an unforgettable finish, Ipswich local Benjamin Thiessen emerged as the champion of the APLPT Queensland Main Event held at Kedron-Wavell. Benjamin, an IT worker, battled his way through the final table with skill and determination, turning his modest Day 2 stack of 45,700 into an impressive victory. His final reward? A stunning payout of $21,020, a seat in the $100K Invitational, and entry into the 2025 APL Million Main Event. With his family cheering him on, Benjamin’s win was a momentous achievement, marking the culmination of a long chase for the trophy he’s sought after for years.

Final Placings:

  • 1st Place: Benjamin Thiessen - $21,020 + $100K Invitational Seat + $1,500 APL Million Main Event Seat
  • Entries: 706, Prize Pool: $105,900, Paid Players: 90

Jackstar Super High Roller Winner

Nathanial Hutton claimed the Jackstar Super High Roller title in a gripping performance that captivated spectators. This fan-favourite victory was detailed by guest writer Liam Murray, who captured the excitement around Hutton’s rise to the top. With his friend Divan Van Wyk by his side, Nathanial pushed through the intense competition, securing a first-place prize of $40,305 and a seat at the $100K Invitational. A fan favourite, Nathanial’s victory solidified his place in APLPT history.

  • 1st Place: Nathanial Hutton - $40,305 + $100K Invitational Seat
  • Entries: 117, Prize Pool: $152,100, Paid Players: 12
